Healthy Foods to Lose Weight

We all know that a key to dieting and losing weight is what you put in your body, how much you put in, and how often you put it in. In this article I cover some of the healthy foods that you should incorporate into your diet plan. When thinking of what to eat, remember that eating many small meals during the day is better than large meals as that expands your stomach and home much you tend to eat. If you keep food in your system, you will not feel the urge to gorge when its meal time.

Alright, many of us are searching for healthy foods to lose weight.  Lots of people wish to get that magic food that can magically increase their metabolic rate to a level that will help them lose weight. Unfortunately these food types do not exist, regardless of all the diet plan myths you hear about. However, there are several foods that can help improve your weight loss simply by adding them to your diet instead of others.

We will start with fruits and vegetables. Although some are high in sugars, fruits are one of the better foods you can consume, both to lose weight and for the sake of your overall wellness. They are low in calories compared to other healthy foods and the best part, they are very high in vitamins and minerals. Some are high in fiber to so you will feel full longer and be not as likely to binge eat. Vegetables have all the health benefits of fruit and also do not have the calories that some fruits do. Just make sure you don’t add on too much dressing. Fortunately fruits and veggies tend to be tasty and convenient, so many people find you can include these in their daily diets. If not only for a snack in between meals, include a little extra veggies or salad to your primary meals to lower the need for fattening foods.

Next is kind of a filler food, beans and rice.  They are very filling, and are digested gradually, so that your levely of energy will remain high during the day. They’re extremely multipurpose, and may be used in a pot of soup, stews, stir-fries, and several other types of dishes . Beans are also found to have a digestive hormone that can help to control hunger, assisting to decrease the chance you will binge eat.

Coconut oil has received somewhat of a negative rep in well known dietary opinions, because of numerous flawed research financed by the big vegetable oil businesses. However people in exotic cultures have long appreciated coconuts as well as their essential oil for their own beautifying and health-promoting qualities, and now the United States is catching on to that as well as its diet value. Coconut oil is important for losing weight since it is full of medium chain triglycerides, which are in fact used up by the body for energy. And also, consuming this oil may improve your metabolism so your body burns body fat quicker.  Just be sure that any coconut oil you purchase is not processed and if possible organic, as low end oils tend to be processed in a way that decreases their benefit as healthy foods.

Protein foods are always a big part of low carb diets, but you don’t have to go the reduced carbohydrate path to experience the weight loss advantages of consuming protein foods. British scientists found that following a protein-rich meal, a hormone known as PYY is released, which can help suppress the appetite.  So if your weight loss has been challenged by the need to overindulge, eating more protein in your meals may help to get your appetite under control. Also, look at the nutrition facts of protein type foods such as chicken, eggs, and other meats. They are generally extremely low in calories and carbs but will still fill you up and can be considered healthy foods to lose weight.

So adding these healthy foods into your diet can help you with your weight loss goals. Look at any diet plan and you will usually see these foods listed as recommend foods. Take a look at the rest of our site for more details on good weight loss diet foods and best of luck.

Healthy Diet Foods

Here I will hopefully point out some healthy diet foods you might not been aware of yet. It is easier to maintain a diet and follow through if you not only know all the healthy foods available, but also find some you like. Its not just greens that make up a healthy diet.

There are many diets out there that emphasize low carbs such as the South Beach diet and other variations. It is true you need to watch your carbohydrate intake compared to protein and fats, but I consider calories the biggest factor in a healthy foods based weight loss plan. Whatever calories you don’t use or burn get stored as deposits and excess weight. The key is to either burn them off or not to eat too much excess. Here are some healthy diet foods to help with your diet plan.

Many kinds of berries have low carbohydrate naturally but are high in many nutrients including antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. I consider berries the cheat fruit, because they are delicious but at the same time very healthy. Just make sure you dont by berries processed using sugar or other additives. Very often they are packaged and sold with unnaturally supplemented to improve taste even more. Play it safe and read the nutrition facts as not all foods that may be healthy are in fact healthy foods.

If you want fiber and a healthy supplement to any meal get some avocado dip or slices. This fruit comes with a great diet food profile that could work nicely for those who are working on their own reduced carb diet programs. For each 100 grams of avocado, you only get 8.43 grams of carbs. If you want to cheat a bit and feel you deserve it, have it with some fat free chips or crackers. Most dips are extremely fattening but you can find low calorie avocado dip if you look.

If you are generally keeping away from meats yet want to involve some necessary protein in your diet plan, a great substitute is tofu. One half cup of tofu offers around ten grams of protein and just one gram of carbs. You can spice up your tofu with different herbs and actually make it a healthy diet food that tastes pretty good.

Instead of Doritos, there is this new kind of rice cake chips you can buy at the local grocery store. They are mini rice cakes flavored in cheddar or carmel bagged like regular potato chips. They have less then half the calories and if you need to snack, although they are not healthy foods, they are the better alternative. I recommend replacing your unhealthy snacking cravings with these.

Cliff Bar are a very tasty energy bar that you can find on any store shelves. They are packed with healthy energy components and are low in calories for the great taste. They do have carbohydrates but are from healthy ingredients. I wouldnt recommend too many of these at night, but its a good morning snack to give you energy throughout the day. I would include these on my healthy foods list for breakfast.

Healthy Cheap Food

Most American families go grocery shopping at least once a week. This makes food one of the most significant things on our budgets and money spent. As our economy continues to suffer, a great number of people are trying to survive by living on much less. They are forced into smaller budgets, which leads to less spending money at the grocery store.  This obviously will be easier said then actually done. Attempting to produce and maintain a grocery store spending budget generally is a tough task to handle especially if your going for healthy foods to lose weight. A low cost spending budget may be easily achieved having a cart filled with Top Ramen noodles. But an eating plan composed of cheap junk food takes a hit on your daily and overall health.

So you are probably wondering what you can do to eat healthy foods and still bring down the costs of grocery shopping.  One of the initial things you can do to bring down costs is look for seasonal items. This might seem like an obvious one, but quite often people forget the cost benefits of seasonal produce. The trick to buy produce that is in season meaning it was cheaper for the producers to provide it resulting in a cheaper final retail price. When its summer, check out the tomatoes and orange, then when fall his check out the melons and green vegetables. Often times you will find the berry varity to be expensive, but when it’s the start of their growing season the prices come down.

One of the most expensive items usually on a grocery list is meat.  Look at the meat section in your grocery store. The steak sliced and wrapped individually tends to be very expensive by the pound. You can find deals buying it in bulk by the bag in the frozen section, but even then it still can be expensive.  So if you limit your meat intake, you will need to find other sources of protein. Eggs and nut products can be a great source of protein. Beans and peas can also be a great alternatives to meat when looking at healthy foods.

Also, as they say, drinking more water can lessen your appetite. You can spruce it up with mint or a lemon. There is also bottled water that has flavoring with very little sugar. I tend to prefer water most of the time and just buy big packages of bottled water at the grocery store.

I dont mean to sound cheap but it is amazing the deals you can see using coupons, especially the healthier foods. I dont recommend eating out much, but you can strike up some deals for eating out using coupons too. Also, look out for managers specials and go later at night where they mark off the things that havent sold for the day. Meats, bakery, and some other items usually will be marked down later in the day.

Another tip, just dont over eat. With all the food at our disposal, as a nation we think we need to eat way more then is necessary. Our portions that are served are usually much larger than we need to feel full. Look around your community, there are lots of overweight people. Instead of gorging or eating all the food available, take leftovers. I have tried this and it is probably the most beneficial aspect of my weight loss plan, and it saves me money. How is that for cheap healthy foods to lose weight.
